    Description

Andrew Jackson: A Very Choice Example of the Popular Copper Lustre Pitcher. A medium-sized, 6", version in wonderful condition. These are particularly prone to chipping and this example is no exception. A very masterful restorer has filled in and matched the copper luster paint to cover a chip along the rim. The repair is almost undetectable. There is a familiar bust of Jackson on each side, with name above and "Hero of New Orleans" below. These probably date from Jackson's first presidential run in 1824, as a similar version for Lafayette probably was issued for the old Revolutionary War hero's triumphant return to visit that same year. Perhaps THE "must-have" 3-D Jackson item among collectors. From the Edward C. Gillette Collection.
