    Description

Abraham Lincoln: Massive 1864-Dated Silver Plate Water Pitcher with His Profile, and the California Bear as Finial on the Hinged Lid. Lincoln's portrait is surrounded by "Abraham Lincoln President of the U.S. 1864." This was created by making a mold of a familiar Lincoln campaign token, Sullivan's AL 1864-18 (however it is not formed by embedding an actual token in the side of the pitcher; it is incorporated into the decoration of the pitcher as made). Patriotic shield and flags above, the reverse side is engraved with the owner's name, Annie Pickens. This large, heavy pitcher carries no maker's mark, but is very well made, and one of the most impressive of Lincoln display items. We have never seen another. Height 18.75". Diameter at base 7.25".
