Abraham Lincoln: Figural Eagle Parade Torch. Figural campaign torches are the most desirable parade torches. This may account for the popularity among collectors of the eagle torch, attributed by Collins to Lincoln's presidential campaign of 1860. Our research indicates that this is, indeed, a Lincoln item, but used in 1864 by the Republican organization known as the "War Eagles". The torch is approximately 9" square and consists of an eagle facing left, with two burners, mounted on a wire bracket. This example is in overall good condition. It has two slight bends in the eagle's chest on both sides. The burners seem to be original, but do not unscrew. There are some solder repairs and some unknown metallic object is trapped inside and rattles around. There is separation to the seam on the wing tips, especially on one side. It displays quite nicely, appears complete and has the original finish.
