    Description

    Theodore Roosevelt: Well Executed Bronze Bust By Gleb W. Derujinsky. A finely executed bronze bust by well know Russian sculptor G.W. Derujinsky. Born in Russia in 1888, and trained at the Imperial Academy of Arts in Saint Petersburg before immigrating to the United States in1919. His works include sculptures of Theodore Roosevelt, Franklin D. Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy and Adlai Stevenson. Many of his works are in the permanent collections of major museums in the United States and Europe. In 1933 he was elected into the National Academy of Design as an Associate member, and became a full Academician in 1953. This beautifully executed piece, c. 1920, stands 10 1/2" tall including the base. It is stamped R.B.W. [Roman Bronze Works]. It has fine detail and texture, and worthy of inclusion in the finest collection of notable personalities.
