    Description

Theodore Roosevelt: 1920 Theater Chair. After TR's death in 1919, they named lots of things after him, such as schools, airfields, etc. They even named a theater after him. The Roosevelt Theater opened in 1920 and was located in New York City on Seventh Avenue near 145th Street. Fats Waller won an amateur contest there playing James P. Johnson's "Carolina Shout". He may have even sat in this seat. "One never knows, do one?" The seat is your typical, sturdy theater seat, composed of a cast iron frame and stained, bent plywood. One side has a raised bust of TR in a copper finish. The other has a plaque indicating it was removed from the Roosevelt Theater of New York City. It is quite solid and probably weighs around 35-40 lbs. The site today houses a supermarket, but a bust of TR is perched in an upstairs alcove, facing the street.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
