John F. Kennedy: Jack Ruby's Carousel Club Table Top Craps Game. Patrons to Jack Ruby's Carousel Club could enjoy the floor show, have a few drinks or play with this table top craps game. The club was frequented by members of the U. S. military, notably the Air Force. The consignor was an airman and remembers playing with the game in 1962. In 1967, he acquired it from an Air Force buddy that he used to socialize with at the club. By that time, the club had been permanently closed. The game itself measures 18" x 12" x 2". It consists of a multicolored craps table secured under glass within an aluminum frame. A pair of dice are set within a round wooden insert and rest on a velvet-ribbed surface. The frame and base are made of stained plywood. When a bar patron pushes in a metal rod plunger, the dice shimmy and jiggle furiously for a short while. Although unmarked, we believe the game was manufactured in the 1930s or 1940s. The dice are replacements, as the originals were worn down to unrecognizable masses after prolonged use. Other than that, it is in very good condition. We are told photographs exist showing Jack Ruby at his club with this very game visible on the bar. The provenance is very strong. We'll give you even money odds on it.
