[Martin Van Buren]: Vermont Free Soil Broadside. 14 ½" x 10 7/8" [sight] framed to an overall size of 19 5/8" x 16 1/8". Danville [Vermont], August 21, 1848. Titled "Free Soil County Convention." The broadside calls for a county convention to nominate Free Soil Senatorial candidates. Anti-Cass and Anti-Taylor, the author of this piece wants free territories to remain that way. He takes it a step further, adding, "...and that the government shall use all constitutional means to do away slavery where it now exists." Some damp stains and aging. Fabulous content with specific references to Cass and Taylor. Selections from the Collection of Tom Charles Huston.
