    [George Washington]: 1789 Federal Hall Almanac Commemorating the Inauguration of Our Government. 4" x 6.75" example of "Weatherwise's Federal Almanack, For the Year of our Lord 1789". Printed in Boston by John Norman. The cover shows the interior of "Federal Hall" where Washington first took the oath of office on April 30, 1789. The Angel of Fame appears above, clutching the "Federal Constitution" with thirteen stars in the firmament. A poem celebrates the occasion ("The Federal Dome, is raised sublime; Its pillars solid, strong as time.") There are twelve poems corresponding to the months of the year, with January reserved for "... General Washington. Immortal Chief, illustrious Sage... His laurel crown and olive wreath Insure a triumph over death, And pass the bounds of Time." Other poems honor military heroes of the Revolutionary War. Bound in thread. Minor areas of loss to front cover with 1.75" lateral tear. 22pp, lacks rear cover.
