    William Henry Jackson, Photographer: Eleven Vintage Photo Chromolithographs of Colorado Mining Life. Published by the Detroit Photographic Company using the "Photochrom" process to colorize the acclaimed Western photographer's original black and white negatives. Jackson likely shot the images circa 1880-1890, the print date is circa 1898, after Jackson joined the Detroit Publishing Company and contributed an impressive 10,000 of his personal negatives the company's archives.

    The images measure approximately 7" x 3.5" and are archivally mounted to an overall size of 10.75" x 7": 51042 Aspen Silver Mines. A fantastic image of turn of the century Aspen and a silver mining operation perched on the mountainside.
    51043 "American Nettie" Mine, Ouray. This print shows a turn of the century mining operation perched on the edge of a mountain in Ouray, Colorado with a spectacular view of the valley below.
    51048 A Miner's Blacksmith. A print of a blacksmith and his makeshift workshop on the side of a mountain in Colorado along with a couple of his local miner customers.
    51049 Dug Out Cabins. A great view of Old Colorado with cabins dug out of the side of the mountain, and a turn of the century gentleman smoking his pipe in one of the doorways.
    51050 A Pioneer Merchant. A great view of a rugged frontier merchant in turn of the century Colorado.
    51051 Burros at Silver Mine. This print shows working burros waiting outside a silver mine shaft in Old Colorado.
    51053 Pack Train Ready for Mines. This print shows working burros waiting to go to the mines.
    51054 Pack Train on Mountain Road. This print shows working burros going to the mines.
    51055 Burros Loaded with Lumber.
    51062 A Temperance Outfit.
    51063 Mt. Sopris from Spring Gulch Mine. This is a fantastic turn of the century view of the Spring Gulch silver mine in Colorado with the awesome, snow-covered Mount Sopris looming in the distance.

    A wonderful collection of images, notable both for their portrayal of the life of Colorado miners as well as fine examples of the Photochrom process. All in excellent condition.
