    Description

    Union Major General Francis Jay Herron, Medal of Honor Recipient, Carte de Visite and Signature. Including: (1) Superb CDV of the general posed standing in full uniform and regalia including dress belt, sash, gauntlets and sword. Herron's service career notes in ink on the verso. The lower corners have been clipped, otherwise the image is in fine condition. (2) Signature "F. J. Herron / Maj Genl Vols", on a calling card measuring approximately 3" x 1.75". Fine. Francis J. Herron (1837-1902) was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for his actions at the Battle of Pea Ridge, the citation reading: "Was foremost in leading his men, rallying them to repeated acts of daring, until himself disabled and taken prisoner."
