    Union Colonel William "Buck" McCandless Inscribed Albumen Carte de Visite. Approximately 2.5" x 4" with a Wenderoth & Taylor, Philadelphia studio mark on the verso. The image is a handsome bust portrait of the colonel in uniform with a long inscription beneath reading, in full: "Presented with high / sentiments of esteem to Capt. Louis Livingston / by the original / Wm McCandless / Cmdg Pa. Res. Corp." Uniform age toning, clipped corners, else in very good condition. William McCandless (1834-1884) was present at many of the important engagements of the Civil War including Seven Days, Second Bull Run, Antietam, Fredericksburg, Gettysburg and the Wilderness Campaign.
