    Union Brevet Major General Henry Baxter Pair of Cartes de Visite. (1) CDV of the general seated in uniform with, approximately 2.5" x 4", no studio marks on the verso. Small area of loss in the upper right corner, else very good condition. (2) CDV bust portrait of the general in uniform, approximately 2.5" x 4" with a J. V. Cockingham, Jackson, Michigan studio mark on the verso. Modest wrinkle to upper corner of albumen, else bright and fine. Henry Baxter (1821-1873) served in many of the most important engagements of the war sustaining four wounds in the process. After the war he served as Grant's minister to Honduras.
