Two Illustrated Cabinet Cards with Two Cartes de Visite.
    Each measuring, 4.25" x 6.5"
    No place; post-Civil War

Featuring caricature images of African Americans. The first card, titled "Trubble in de Church" depicts a black minister preaching on the day of judgement. The second card, titled "Effect of the Fifteenth Amendment" provides an interesting commentary on the new social structure of the U.S., with a mother chastising her children for being mistaken as "Irish Chil'en". With black emancipation, there was a strong rivalry, and frequent animosity, with the Irish population over labor.

Along with two cartes de visite, measuring 2.5" x 4", featuring African American subjects. The first, produced by Thomas Nast, circa 1863, is titled "Colored Volunteer". It shows a young black child, holding a broom and marching. The second, produced by J. Chapman, circa 1865, is titled "A Distinguished Arrival". The image is a depiction of the apocryphal tale of Jefferson Davis' capture while wearing his wife's clothes. An African American soldier has arrested Davis, and the caption reads, "Negro Soldier - 'Hi dar! Show dis ole lady a room - one wid a closet to put dis yar skelle in tum in!'"

Condition: Light toning and wear throughout all pieces, with particular wear at corners. Some light foxing and soiling as well. Overall good.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
