Description

Wonderful C. 1861 Tintype Of Two Children "Playing At War". Early soft emulsion with some bluing else about perfect. A remarkable image, both charming and tragic at the same time. The boy at left wears a quasi uniform jacket and holds a percussion double barrel shotgun, with the shot and powder pouches slung over his shoulder. What appears to possibly be a knife tucked in his belt. Nicely hand tinted patriotic badge on his breast and kepi with visor turned up with unidentified insignia on the front tinted gilt, as are the fittings on the powder/shot set. The wide eyed younger boy at right also wears a quasi uniform coat with kepi with same insignia tinted gilt. Hand tinted patriotic badge on the lapel of his coat and holds American flag on wood pole with the stars in a circle. Field lightly tinted blue, stripes red. Painted backdrop. A really wonderful and unique image in half case.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
