Two Absolutely Exquisite Quarter Plate Tintypes Of Federal Infantrymen In Double Thermoplastic Case. At left is officer with gilt tinted shoulder straps on nine button frock coat, buttons also gilded. Wears white gloves and holds foot officer's sword in front of him. Wears red tinted sash in 'Officer of the Day' configuration. Military backdrop with red stripes tinted on flag. Superb quality, pristine condition. On the right is an enlisted infantryman, doubtless from the same unit, with the image clearly taken at the same time with identical painted military backdrop with stripes on flag tinted red. What appears to be a large "K" tinted gilt on the front of his forage cap. Regulation nine button frock coat with high collar, cartridge box and sling, waist belt with cap box, both plates tinted gilt. Holds M1842 musket with bayonet fixed at his side. Also of the finest quality in pristine condition. Both housed in S. Peck geometric/floral motif black thermoplastic case in excellent condition with just one chip and a minor hairline. Great set of images.
