DescriptionSixth Plate Tintype of Armed Federal Recruit mounted in paper CDV-style mat. This fellow is a poster child for regulation Union Army dress and equipment. Standing before a camp scene backdrop complete with flag, he holds a factory fresh musket affixed with bayonet. A nine-button frock coat is worn above army issue trousers that have the cuffs rolled up as if in anticipation of Virginia mud. A cartridge box, cap box, and bayonet scabbard hang from a waist belt and cross belt, respectively fitted with US oval and eagle plates. Excellent clarity, contrasts and surfaces. Very fine condition.
Estimate: $400 - $600.
