Sixth Plate Tintype of a Union Soldier with Rifle and Large Knife. A seated portrait, measuring 2" x 2.5" (sight), of a young Union soldier, holding his rifle upright in his right hand and a long knife in his left. He is wearing a large U.S. belt buckle and an unidentified insignia on his chest strap. On a small side table rests his shako (hat), which appears to have a 28th Infantry insignia, with a large "B" above the infantry bugle. Hand tinted with red at the soldier's cheeks. Housed in a thermoplastic case, measuring 3.25" x 3.75", decorated with patriotic military insignia. The case was manufactured by S. Peck & Co. From the Bret J. Formichi American Civil War Rarities Collection.

Condition: A clear image, with minor imperfections around the edges. The glass has a few small scratches. Some wear to the tintype case, especially at the corners and edges. Overall very good.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
