Sixth Plate Civil War Tintype of a Black Federal Infantryman. Very fine quality and condition. Just a couple of tiny 'dimples' from the back not affecting image in any way. What is obviously a black soldier with high collar 9 button regulation frock coat, visible under overcoat, with soldier's hands on the front edges of the overcoat. Bummer's cap with insignia on top. Interestingly he wears an officer's sword belt with over the shoulder sling, with the M1851 sword belt plate upside down. Colt M1860 Army tucked in the belt, butt out. Brass patriotic mat and housed in a near perfect dark brown, 'nesting' birds' thermoplastic case. Nice example of a very rare subject.
