Description

A Great Published Tintype Image of Three Armed Texans, Possibly Rangers. Pictured in Lee Silva's biography of Wyatt Earp (volume 2, page 379), and also appeared on PBS Experience "Wyatt Earp," narrated by historian Matthew Isenberg. According to Silva, two of the men hold Confederate-style pistols, and the third, a scarce Remington model. On verso is written in old pencil, "Hattie Walker Menardville Texas." Along the Saba River, Menardville (now called Menard) was the location of a Texas Rangers recruiting station in those days. In any case, a great Texas image, not composed in a studio, of real armed cowboys. 2.25" x 3.125" and in very good condition with a couple of minor scratches.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
