    [Texas Rangers]. John McMullen Half-Plate Tintype Portrait, circa 1860, 4.25" x 5.5". McMullen (1824-?) served in Captain Ewen Cameron's Company during the Mier Expedition as a private. During the Mexican War, he served in Robert Gillespie's Company "I," Texas Mounted Rifles, under Jack Hays. Later in the war, he joined Benjamin McCulloch's Company "A." A few years later, he left Texas for California with Jack Hays where, in 1880, his daughter married Hays' son. Some scratches to the face of the tintype.
    Provenance: Hays family.
