    No place; circa mid-1860s

    A montage of the members of Congress, approximately 120, who voted in favor of passing the 13th Amendment. No makers mark on verso. The amendment was first passed by the Senate on April 8, 1864. It then went to the House of Representatives where it was passed on January 31, 1865, and was finally adopted on December 6, 1865. The 13th Amendment, which abolished slavery, was the first of three Reconstruction amendments following the Civil War.

    Condition: Light toning and soiling, with minor wear to the corners. Overall good.
