    Abraham Lincoln Large Albumen Portrait, Originally Taken by Alexander Hesler, Printed From the Original Negative by George B. Ayers, Circa 1881. Approximately 8" x 9" with "G. B. Ayers Copyright 1881" studio marks blind stamped in both lower corners and marked by hand in ink on the verso "Copyright / Geo. B. Ayers / Phila". This is one of four images taken of Lincoln by Hesler in Springfield, Illinois on June 3, 1860. Lincoln himself mentions that Hesler's images "gives a very fair representation of my homely face." Some loss and damage to the edge of the mount with a crack across the lower right corner of the image, otherwise a crisp, sharp image in very good condition. O-26.
