    [Lincoln Assassination]. Photograph: Lincoln Conspirator Judges. Measuring 16.25" x 10.75", this large platinum print features the twelve judges of the military commission responsible for trying the conspirators implicated in the murder of President Lincoln. From left to right are Lt. Col. David R. Clendenin, Bvt. Col. C.H. Tompkins, Brig. Gen. T.M. Harris, Brig. Gen. Albion P. Howe, Bvt. Brig. Gen. James A. Ekin, Maj. Gen. Lew Wallace, Maj. Gen. David Hunter, Bvt. Maj. Gen. August V. Kautz, Brig. Gen. Robert S. Foster, John A Bingham (Special Judge Advocate), Col. Henry L. Burnett (Special Judge Advocate), and Brig. Gen. Joseph Holt (Judge Advocate and Recorder). All but two of the men are in uniform and eight are sitting in a semi-circle; four of the men stand behind. A pencil inscription on the verso reads: "Gen Holt and members of the Court who tried Mrs. Surratt." Mary Surratt owned a boarding house and was implicated in Lincoln's assassination. She was found guilty and sentenced to death by hanging. On July 7, 1865, she became the first woman executed by the U.S. government. A fine photograph. Affixed to a mount to an overall size of 19.75" x 16".
