    Four Albumen Stereoviews: General Crook's Expedition into the Black Hills. Depicts reenactment of the 1876 "Starvation March." The troops, skittish after the Custer Massacre, marched at a snail's pace which caused them to run out of rations. Stanley J. Morrow of Yankton, Dakota Territory yellow stereoview mount with paper list verso. The four scenes are entitled "Soldiers Fighting over Horse Meat" (on two images); "Soldiers carrying Off Horse Meat; and "Soldier Shooting Abandoned Horse for Meat." All with P.T. Buckley ink signature and his estate stamp verso. These photos were actually made of soldiers reenacting some of the events for the camera of Stanley J. Morrow. This lot is part of the P. T.
