Sioux Leaders: A Superb Near-mint Oversized Collage Photo by Barry. In the center is Chief John Grass, so the image probably dates from circa 1890-1891, during the time of the Ghost Dance and Wounded Knee, when he was an outspoken advocate of peace (Chief White Bull said of him that he was "a good talker...not a thinker or a smart man...could always say yes, but never no." He is surrounded by photos of Sitting Bull, Rain-in-the-Face, Gall, Curley (Custer's famed scout), and Sitting Bull's camp. In the center bottom, part of the photo, is a smaller banner reading "Copyrighted by D. F. Barry," whose name is also stamped into the lower righthand corner. Spectacular condition, and imposing 10.75" x 13.75" size (including mount). First time we have ever had this great image. For strictest accuracy we note a bit of trivial corner wear on the mount, but the photo itself is pristine an unimprovable.
