    Description

Sioux Leader Chief Gall: A Fine Nineteenth Century D. F. Barry Photograph. A giant of a man weighing nearly 300 pounds, he was a war chief of the Hunkpapa Lakota who served as one of Sitting Bull's lieutenants at the Battle of the Little Bighorn. Chief Gall's wife and two children were killed during Major Reno's initial assault on the Indian camp. After the battle, his group joined Sitting Bull in taking refuge in Canada, but Gall became disillusioned with Sitting Bull and brought his band back into the United States in 1880, finally surrendering the following year. He lived out his life at Standing Rock Reservation, dying in 1894. It was doubtless at Standing Rock that he was photographed by Barry. The photo is in what appears to be its original oval bronze-finish metal frame. It is marked "Copyright D. F. Barry," and the name "Chief Gall" is ink-stamped under the expressive portrait. Excellent condition, 8" x 10" as framed.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
