    Description

James B. Barton Original Orotone of Mount Rainier and Mirror Lake in the original "pie crust" frame, circa 1900, signed in the negative "© J.B.B". Sight size is approximately 13.5" x 10.5", framed to an overall size of 17" x 14". This stunning image pictures the majestic Mt. Rainier perfectly mirrored as a reflection in the water. Please note that this is the large 14" x 11" orotone (goldtone) and not the more commonly seen 10" x 8" size. Most of the original backing paper with the handwritten note "Original Bartone / Mirror Lake / Mt Tacom... / James Bert Ba..." is still present. The beautiful three dimensional effect of the orotone process is nicely complemented by the gold highlighted frame. Excellent condition.
