    Description

Robert E. Lee Cartes de Visite (Four). All near 2.25" x 4". Two feature the Confederate general in uniform with sword, one in 1863. The earliest features a much younger Lee (possibly age forty-three) as a brevet lieutenant-colonel of engineers (circa 1850). The final image features Lee sitting during his post-war tenure as president of Washington College (circa 1869). Three bear different photographer's stamps: Case & Getchell, J. E. McClees, and C. D. Fredricks. Some staining and soiling, particularly to the CDV of the elderly Lee.
