William F. "Buffalo Bill" Cody: Large Wild West Show Photographs. Set of three sepia-toned photographs (9.5" x 7.5"), each on 14" x 11" stiff cardboard mounts. These all relate to the Aurora Zouaves, a group of military-style precision drill experts (founded in 1887) who performed with Cody's Wild West show. The items were consigned by a client whose ancestor (Webb N. Gould) was a member of the troupe. The first photo is an outdoor shot of the "Aurora Zouaves" taken in Brooklyn, N.Y. on April 24, 1897. Buffalo Bill, Nate Salsbury and all members of the troupe are identified on the mount. The other two photos show the Zouaves in two different formations at the old Madison Square Garden in Manhattan in 1897. These two have the back mark of Stacy of Brooklyn ("Celebrated Ivory Finish"). There is some minor soiling and edge chipping on these two, but the photographs themselves are excellent.
