Social History: New York City Tenement Photos Plus More. This lot of old photos is quite varied, but is worth a close perusal. In the nondescript category, we have fourteen CDV's almost exclusively of European origin, two smaller portraits on board, seven cabinet card and mounted photograph portraits and a ninth plate tintype portrait. The interesting stuff consists of eleven photos (mostly 7" x 5") depicting field workers, street and tenement scenes, circa 1910, many attributed to Lewis W. Hine. There are two of a child working in a cotton field, a barefoot child on a plank road (possibly a reform school inmate), a bundle carrier (perhaps on Delancy or Orchard Street), child mill workers in Massachusetts, a lady bookbinding apprentice, a rag picker, a Western Union messenger boy with client or employer, plus others.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
