Original Framed Panoramic Photograph of the 11th World Science Fiction Convention, Philadelphia, 1953. Known as Philcon II, the 1953 WSFC was held at the Bellevue-Stratford Hotel in September, 1953, and was the first to award the Hugo. This gorgeous black-and-white photograph is chock full of hundreds of the best in the Golden Age business, starting with toastmaster Isaac Asimov. Honorees for the first Hugos included Alfred Bester, John W. Campbell, Jr., Hannes Bok, Ed Emshwiller, Virgil Finlay, Philip Jose Farmer, Forrest J Ackerman, and guest of honor, Willy Ley, likely all pictured here. Matted, the visible portion of the photograph measures 19 x 8 inches inside the mat, framed to an overall size of approximately 22.5 x 12.25 inches. Not examined outside the frame. Fine condition. From the Jerry Weist Collection.
