    Description

African-American Family Photograph Album, Circa 1972. As the turbulent 1960s drew to a close, the 1970s offered Black American families some hope for better and more equal status. Those gains came as a result of the oftentimes violent struggles for civil rights and the awareness that modest, yet important social change had been made manifest by the struggle. This photograph album provides an intimate look into an African-American family in the early 1970s. The album is marked on the inside cover "Supreme Owner: / Miss Yolanda C. Jones / 7736 So. Carpenter St. / Chicago, Ill. 60620" and contains just over 100 snapshots of friends and family. Weddings, births, family gatherings and parties are all chronicled in the album, replete with the styles of the early 1970s.

Condition: Excellent. Varying degrees of toning and wear.
