Admiral Byrd Press Photo Archive. A group of five press photographs featuring scenes from the life of Polar explorer and aviator, Richard E. Byrd. The photographs appear in various sizes and issue from various photo news services including Wide World, International Newsreel Photo, Herbert Photos, etc. Each includes a photo caption (detached in some cases) with dates and information. Included are photos of Byrd and his crew taken just after swimming ashore in France after an ill-fated Atlantic flight; Bryd and Bennett turning over their famous Ford Tri-motor to Edsel Ford; group photo of Byrd and crew with "Igloo" the dog; a photo of Byrd and crew before the New York to Paris flight; and a frightening photo of Byrd's 86 year old grandmother who prophesied that a member of the Byrd family would one day reach the Pole in some sort of "conveyance". Some photos are slightly "wavy", else all are in very good condition.
