    Valeria "Mikki" Ferrill studied photography and art at the Art Institute of Chicago, and began her career as a photojournalist. Her work is known for her candid photography of every day African-American subjects. This photograph shows a private, quiet moment between a waitress and a customer in a busy restaurant.
