    Description

Louis M. Goldsborough Signed Carte de Visite. 2.5" x 4", a seated portrait in uniform, with an F. Kindler, Newport, Rhode Island backstamp on verso. Signed below the image: "L.A. Goldsborough."

Louis Goldsborough (1805-1877) served as a rear admiral in the U.S. Navy during the Civil War. He gained command of the Atlantic Blockading Squadron in late 1861, which soon was split into two squadrons (A North and South Squadron). Goldsborough took command of the North squadron, and aided in the capture of Roanoke Island and the defense of Union forces during the Peninsula Campaign. Hostilities with General McClellan, however, led to Goldsborough withdrawing from command and taking up administrative duties for the rest of the war.

Condition: Light edge toning. Boldly signed by Goldsborough.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
