Jesse James: A Rare Original Mounted Albumen Post-Mortem Photo. Large 4" x 5½" mounted to what remains of a file or album page, with "No. 297" in ink below. This is a familiar image taken in St. Joseph immediately following James' murder by Bob Ford. It is clearly a first generation print, not one of the commercial versions made for subsequent sale, and most probably came from the files of the photographer or the under-taker. Strong, bold photo in very good condition with several light partial creases and one minor 1-inch crack.

Also included is a rare booklet, the text of an address called, "Train Robberies, Train Robbers, and 'Holdup' Men," delivered by famed detective Wm. A. Pinkerton to the 1907 national convention of the International Association of Chiefs of Police. Not surprisingly, much of the content is about the James Gang. 84 pps. With many photo illustrations, 5.25" x 6.25". Overall good condition except for piece missing from corner of cover as shown.
