Group of Seven Civil War Cartes de Visite. Group includes the following: C.1875 portrait of two amputees. Both wearing uniforms, the man on the right with GAR medal and playing a rotary valve trumpet. Man at the left holds a large stack of these CDVs which they apparently sold. Spencer carbine, with loading tube removed, lying on the floor in front of them. Backmark of F. M. Spencer, Mansfield, N. Y., pristine condition; Full standing view of Civil War period midshipman with backmark of C. H. Hopkins, Annapolis. Signed in ink script on the verso "D. S. Little / U. S. N."; Brady portrait of a Pennsylvania Infantry Captain. Brady backmark, bottom trimmed, chip at upper right corner. Aesthetically exceptional image with officer wearing overcoat with one side of cape turned back, hand resting on saber belt, holding rolled papers in his other hand. Period pencil script ID on verso faded but "Capt." and "P. V. Regt." clearly visible. Very fine quality; Full length standing portrait of a Union Surgeon/Lieutenant. Wears shell jacket with Lieutenant's shoulder straps. Holds slouch hat with old English MS in wreath. Backmark of Wines, 104 Main Street, Milford (probably Conn.); Group of three cartes-de-visites of officers of the 10th US Colored Inf. Two bust portraits, one with Anderson New Orleans backmark and signed in ink on front "D. L. Proudfit / Capt. 10 USCI". Some even fading. The other with no backmark and signed on the front. Although the ID is considerably faded it is identified as Lt. J. R. Hanneman. The other a very fine 3/4 length portrait with backmark of Powelson, Rochester, N. Y., revenue stamp and signed in ink script on verso, "H. M. Foote, Capt. 10 USCI." Nice grouping.
