    Description

Group of Four Child Daguerreotype Portraits. A splendid topical array of early cased Victorian images with children who appear to be straight out of a Currier & Ives print. They are as follows: 1/4th plate, likely of a boy, holding what appears to be a rattle. This young fellow's picture is behind a very early plain brass matt. A tiny period manuscript note on the underside of the lid reads, "B.S.B about 3 years"; 1/6th plate of a stern young fellow and his dog. The dog's collar has a brass nameplate, and he appears to be passed out. Pets add charm and value to early portrait photographs.; 1/6th plate of a bonneted young miss holding a posy. Lightly colored and a cherubic angel.; 1/6th plate of another sweet young girl, this time with ribbons in her hair and hands demurely stationed in her lap. Two of the cases have separated lids and are worn and/or scratched on the high points. The images are clear with some edge haloing. Overall fine condition.
