    Description

Great Pair of Early War Sixth Plate Tintypes of Young Federal Infantrymen, doubtless brothers. Soldier on left wears Hardee style hat with side turned up and no insignia, four button blouse, belt with oval U. S. Ctg. box and cap box visible on the belt with Bowie knife with no sheath and pepperbox tucked in the front of the belt. Holds M1822 musket with bayonet fixed in front of him. Soldier on right with identical hat, four button blouse. Tarred leather waist belt with large rectangular plate. Bowie knife in sheath and also what appears to be a pepperbox tucked in the front of his belt. Also holds M1822 musket with bayonet fixed in front of him. Both images of exceptional quality, just some minor bluing around the edges not affecting the subject, else perfect condition. Housed in a nice double sided black thermoplastic case with deep relief floral scrollwork/floral design, just a couple of small chips else perfect with "A. P. Critchlow & Co." label. Very nice pair of Civil war images.
