    Description

Geronimo: A Superb and Rare 1899 Cabinet Photo by William E. Irwin. This iconic image shows the Apache leader with full feathered headdress and a fierce expression and brandishing a rare Texas-made Dance revolver. It is a silver gelatin print on the original mount of "Irwin, Chickasha, Indian Territory". On verso is written in period hand, "Geronimo, Chief of the Notorious Band of Arizona Apache Indians now a prisoner of war - Ft. Sill". Also on verso is a sticker identifying this photo as ex-Volkman Wentzel Collection, Washington, D.C.

Photo and mount are in gorgeous condition, surely unimprovable. If one wished to own just one representative Geronimo photograph, condition and image quality make this on an ideal choice. 5.25" x 7.375".
