George Meade Autograph Letter Signed with Carte de Visite. The two-page letter (one leaf, 3.5" x 6.5") is dated February 30, 1864, on letterhead reading, "Head-Quarters, Army of the Potomac." The letter includes orders written during the Battle of Cold Harbor to Major General Horatio G. Wright, the commander of the Union 6th Corps. It reads in part, "If you are in position I desire you will push forward your skirmishers supporting them, and pressing back the enemy's till his position is developed & if practicable attack the enemy in case he appears weak - Warren on the left is threatened and the enemy appear there in force. [Signed] Geo. G. Meade Maj Genl." Some soiling. The CDV, which features the general in uniform, shows some wear and is stamped on the reverse by F. Gutekunst of Philadelphia.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
