    Description

Exceptional ¼ Plate Tintype of William Rees, Company B, 103rd Regiment, Pennsylvania Infantry.
Comprising: 1.) ¼ plate tintype of Rees seated in uniform with his kepi laying on a table by his side. The buttons of his uniform coat and kepi have been hand colored. The image is housed under glass in the lower half of an embossed leather case, retaining the ornate gilt mat. 2.) Autograph note removed from a larger document or letter reading, in full: "William Rees / Co B 103d Regt. P.V. / Col T. F. Lehman / Chiems Brigade / Casey's Division / Washington D.C.".

William Rees was a resident of Armstrong County, Pennsylvania who enlisted as a private on September 24, 1861 and mustered into the 103rd Pennsylvania Infantry. Records show he died of disease August 25, 1862 at Philadelphia.

Condition: 1.) Excellent. A remarkably clear image with a few trivial scratches to the emulsion. Lacking top lid to case. 2.) Very good. Bright, legible with obvious ragged edges along the right and lower margins from having been torn from a larger document or letter.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
