    Description

Edward S. Curtis, Photographer. Lot of Three Original Photogravure Plate Envelopes with Final Proof Prints and Finished Photogravures from The North American Indian: "Osage Summer Arbor"; "Brush Huts, Animal Dance Encampment Cheyenne", "Hivihhnihpoih Society, Cheyenne Sun Dance." Every copper photogravure plate from The North American Indian was housed in a custom-made envelope with a final proof print on the front. In all, this lot consists of six vintage, original Curtis prints and some extraordinary insight into the creative process behind Curtis' magnum opus. All dated 1927, Volume 19.

Image size is 7.5" x 5.5". Final photogravure paper size is 12 x 9", plate envelopes measure 10" x 8". This lot is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from leading Curtis expert Christopher Cardozo.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
