    Description

    Edward S. Curtis Original Silver Gelatin Print "Carved Posts At Alert Bay." Approximately 13.25" x 10.25" in size and glued to mount, custom framed to 17.5" x 14.5" overall. This image is found in Volume 10, Plate 330 of The North American Indian where Curtis describes it, "These two heraldic columns at the Nimkish Village Yilis, on Comorant Island represent the paternal crest of an eagle, and the maternal crest of a grizzly bear, crushing the head of a rival chief." Very fine condition with a couple of barely noticeable spots. Very desirable and rare format.
