    Edward S. Curtis Original Portfolio Photogravure "A Yauelmani Yokuts" Plate 498 on Japanese Rice Tissue mounted on vellum, copyright 1924. Original image size 11.25" x 15.25" with the plate number at upper left, title at lower left, and captioned at the bottom "From Copyright Photograph 1924 by E. S. Curtis" and "Photogravure Suffolk Eng. Co. Cambridge, Mass." Matted and custom framed to an overall size of 21.5" x 25.5". The Yokut lived in Central California from the San Joaquin Valley south to Bakersfield. They were photographed by Curtis and included in Volume 14 of The North American Indian. He writes, "The Yauelmani formerly lived in the planes north of Kern Lake. The survivors are on Tule River Reservation in Tulare County." Excellent condition.
