Sixth Plate Daguerreotypes. Eight sixth plate daguerreotypes. Three are housed in embossed leather cases. Two are in mother-of-pearl and papier-mâché cases and one in a combination of brass, steel, leather, velvet and papier-mâché. The leather cases depicts a mother & child, a distinguished man and a young woman set behind a gold-stamped paper mat. One "album" case depicts a young boy (the mat stamped "Gilchrest"). Another "album" case has two portraits - a man on one side, and the same man and his brother on the other. The velvet "album" case also has two portraits - a father & daughter on one side and a mother & son on the other. So, technically speaking, there are eight daguerreotypes in this lot.
