    Sixth Plate Daguerreotype of a Frontiersman with Hawken-Style Rifle, ca. 1850s. Beautiful sixth plate daguerreotype, taken in studio, by photographer James P. Palmer, is of a frontiersman who has all the accoutrements he needs: mountain lion hide haversack, bed roll, fabulous 1839 forage cap, large hatchet and half stock percussion rifle. The seal has been broken and the image has been re-sealed. In a magnificent leather case depicting a sunset. Measures approximately 2.75" x 3.25".

    Condition:
    Very fine-excellent, great contrast, some discoloration around frame.
