    Description

Quarter Plate Daguerreotype of a Frontiersmen with Dragoon Pepperbox & Half Stock Percussion Rifle, ca. 1850s. Very rare cased quarter plate daguerreotype of mountain man/frontiersman. He is accompanied with all the accoutrements for his adventure. This full standing image of an unidentified man with mountain lion sash, holding a Hawken-style percussion rifle, Dragoon pepperbox pistol stuffed in mountain lion pelt holster & axe in belt, definitely has the frontiersman look. There is a small paper tag on front of brass mat labeled "James A. Palmer, artist." A very desirable daguerreotype with great composition. Nice tooled leather case with spine repaired. Seal has been broken. Measures approximately 3.25" x 4.25".

    Condition:
Very fine, great contrast, has one toned spot in middle.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
