Group of Early Sixth Plate Daguerreotypes. Based on the mats, we feel that many of these images date from the mid-to-late 1840's. They include: a serious seated gentleman wearing a plaid scarf or vest, a seated young girl with "Mona Lisa" smile holding a book, two young siblings, a seated young lady wearing assorted jewelry, a seated woman adjacent to a colorful and handsome tablecloth (the center of attention in the portrait), and facing portraits of a married couple. The lady holds a slim book while her husband holds a Kentucky flintlock rifle. They are identified as Mr. & Mrs. Archibald Kennedy Stewart in their wedding clothes several years after the event.
