Custer In The Black Hills: A Scarce Stereo View Card by W. B. Illingworth, St. Paul, Minnesota. A marvelous image, it depicts covered wagons in four parallel columns stretching into the horizon. Leading the expedition are several mounted men, one of whom might well be Custer, although his features are not clearly distinguishable, as well as a horse-drawn cannon. To the left and right of the wagons are two long columns of mounted cavalry men, and well to the left a small herd of buffalo graze peacefully, seemingly unfazed by this massive invasion of their turf. Identified as "Custer's expedition on the plains.... scenery of Dacota [sic] & Wyoming Territory and Black Hills photographed by W.B. Illingworth" (Jul- August, 1874) to. Excellent condition, with vintage notations on verso.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
